How did you become interested in genealogy?

I have been actively researching my biological father since about 1989 when I moved here to Nova Scotia permanently. I was working at the Black United Front administration when part of my duties connected me with some information on the Nova Scotia Black community.

What is your most exciting or interesting genealogical discovery?

When I finally found my biological father’s family through Ancestry.

What brought you to GANS?

My research. I was constantly on the website for information on the Black community. To my surprise, they didn’t have any. Since I already had many years of information to share through obituaries, I wanted to be able to share that information with others doing research.

What is your position/responsibility at GANS?

I am actively trying to connect GANS with the Black Community of Nova Scotia.

What is your professional background?

Retired from 25 years at Dalhousie University.

What are your interests outside of genealogy?

Reading, gardening, cooking.
